Concord Sympathy

Hi stamping friends. Ahh, the sympathy card.  Within the last two weeks, between friends and friends of family, there was a need for this card every day!  Unreal.  I love the way this card turned out.  It's so simple, but elegant.  The colors are simply concord crush and whisper white.  The bottom border was made using the edglit die.  I cut a piece of concord crush 4 x 5-1/4, and the white was cut 3-3/4 x 5.   Evenly line up two layers at the bottom, and center them on the sides.  Place the die over the two layers about 1/2 up from the bottom. I used two post it notes to secure them so they wouldn't move (a piece of tape could also be used).  Run through the Big Shot.  Then use the Adorning Accents embossing folder along the concord bottom.  You must cut first, then emboss, otherwise the embossing will get flattened if you emboss first.

The squares are stamped in concord crush using one of the flowers from the Sale-A-Bration Fresh Vintage Stamp, then punched using the 1-1/4" square punch.  Stampin' Dimensions are used to pop up each of the squares.  The sentiment does not have to be sympathy.  There are some really pretty sentiments in the Loving Thoughts stamp set found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Only one month left in the Sale-A-Bration!  Have you placed your supply order and gotten your FREE SAB items?  If not, simply click here to place your order.

Mixed Bunch Butterfly

Hi Stamping Friends.  Isn't this a pretty card?  It's a CASE from Sandy MacIver, a fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  Her colors are the same as the bottom card (the first one I made).  The butterfly is made by stamping with the Mixed Bunch stamp set -- black on poppy parade.  Then it's punched using the blossom punch, and the top two petals are cut off and added as a layer on the bottom.  The other colors are peach parfait, black, concord crush, old olive, and First Edition Specialty designer paper.  The flowers in the background are stamped in black using the Just Because set.  The tiny flowers are punched out of concord crush and poppy parade using the itty bitty shapes.  I didn't want to use rhinestones on the flowers, so I used the Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details for the centers.  Rhinestones were used on the butterfly and on the top of the frame.  Oh, speaking of frames, the Labels Collection framelits are used for the newsprint and black.

Which is your favorite?

Forever and Always

Hi Stamping Friends.  I had quite a busy week with classes.  But I wanted to make sure I kept up with my blogging.  This CASE from Jackie Topa is one of the cards we made for our card ministry class.  They requested a wedding/anniversary card, and this was was perfect.  The colors are tempting turquoise, black and whisper white.  The edgelits were used for the bottom of the turquoise and white, and the top of the white was embossed with the heart embossing folder from the adorning accents set.  The heart to heart punch was used on the bottom of the white.  The sentiment is from the Loving Thoughts set.

Hi Stamping Friends.  I took a break from baking ... had to ... trying too many samples not so good for the waistline.  I have a couple of workshops and classes this week, so I had to buckle down and get some "work" done.  But it's really not that difficult, because I enjoy it so much.

Here is one of the projects some will be making.  It's a CASE from a card we made at the Make 'n Takes at Leadership.  I added a little more texture and changed up the flower just a bit.  I love the flowers in the Mixed Bunch set, paired with the Blossom punch.  The sentiment is from the Petite Pairs set, so anything could be used.  The wavy rick-rack is made using the scallop edge border punch.  Pictured below.

First punch 1/2" wide strip using scallop border punch.

Then flip it over and start the other side in the middle of the silver guide and punch as normal.  It's important to start with a  straight side (can't have a portion of a scallop started).

Sweet Valentine

Hi Stamping Friends.  As it nears Valentines Day, I thought I would show a cute card made in non-traditional colors.  This one is in Calypso Coral.  The Sweet Shop designer paper makes the perfect backdrop with the embossed hearts.  The I {Heart} Hearts stamp set is perfect as it's punched out with the Heart to Heart punch.

Now to the "sweet" part ... here is the cake that I decorated in my second class.  Guess what we learned how to make .... yes, hearts!  I'm getting better as I go.  To compare, I look back on some of the first cards that I made; I used to think they were pretty neat.  Now when I look at them I see how much I've grown (well, I think, anyway) ... I think the same thing will hold true in cake decorating.

Simply Sent Elegance

Hi Stamping Friends.  My cake is baked and I'm ready to go for my next cake decorating class.  But I wanted to make sure I finished early so I could post for all of you again.

These two cards are from the Everyday Elegance Simply Sent® cards that are available for purchase, or better yet, FREE with a $50 order through the Sale-A-Bration promotion.   The set comes with 8 cards, 4 designs, 8 envelopes, and stickers for the sentiment.  I jazzed mine up a bit (have to have my layers).  Plain or jazzed, these are a great set.

I used the stamp set Love & Laughter and added a touch of riding hood red pleated ribbon and a few rhinestones.

Bordering on Romance

Hi Stamping Friends. Sorry I was MIA for a little bit.  I found a "new" hobby ... cake decorating.  I started taking classes, and here is the first cake I decorated in class.  Lettering is definitely not my thing.  Funny thing is I have good handwriting (most times, anyway).

But don't fret, I'm not giving up my first passion, cardmaking!  Here is a card that I made as one of my swaps for Leadership.  It uses the Edgelits die for the side scallop.  The Bordering on Romance stamp was used for all the stamping and colored with riding hood red, pool party and limeade markers.
