Masculine Father's Day or Birthday

Father's Day is fast approaching, and this could be a great card.  It could also be used as a masculine birthday card.  There are only a few more days left before this Come Sail Away designer series paper is retired.  The paddles have a wood grain texture on them, adding a little dimension.  The frog was just too cute to not add to the card.  This is one of the stamp-a-stack cards available for June.

Masculine Thinking of You

Masculine cards can sometimes be the most difficult to create.  This one was not so bad.  Simple layers using night of navy, seaside spray, and whisper white.  The Come Sail Away Designer Series paper adds just a touch of extra design (RETIRING).  The banner down the middle is embossed with the subtle embossing folder for a little added texture.  The Rooted in Nature stamp set sentiment fits perfectly in the stitched circle die.

Mosaic Hummingbird Hello

The catalog year is almost over!  This mosaic paper is so much prettier in real life, because the some of the colors are actually shiny.  I have d to get creative with my stamp-a-stack classes these past months by just using designer paper, punches and dies, and other embellishments.  This is a result of those cards.  The Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series paper was laying around in my supplies for a while, until I saw an actual card using that paper, that's when I really took notice of it and how pretty it really is.

The hummingbirds are on a full sheet of designer paper that were very easy to cut out.  The doilies are retired, but any circle could work.

Salt Watercolor Technique

Technique #3.  Here is the final technique for May.  Salt Watercolor.  The picture doesn't show it very well the actual effect, but the look is spotty water coloring using salt.  Since creating the video below I discovered that air drying does work better than heat drying.  Also, coarse salt works better than table salt.

This simple card was fun and easy to make.  The key is patience to let the salt do it's job ... that one was a tough one for me.  The color combination is bermuda bay, coastal cabana, and rich razzleberry.

Here is the video:
