Mask Polka Dots

Sometimes we tend to use certain tools in one way.  The masks are a good example.  They are advertised to use with embossing paste, but simple ink-masking works just great!  In this sample, I used the polka dots sponged with merry merlot onto crumb cake for the top, and gold ink masked with the leafy pattern on the bottom.

Snow Globe Ornament

This month in technique club we made this adorable card with a detachable snow globe ornament.  Here's how the ornament is made.  Below are step by step instructions.

Pieces of snowglobe cut out. RED:  Cut (2) 3” circles.  Cut globe center in one of the circles.  With cutout piece, cut out bottom of snow globe base.
WHITE:  Cut (1) 2-3/4” circle
SPARKLE GLIMMER:  Cut 2-3/4 scallop circle.  Cut globe center in center.  With cutout piece, cut out scrolled bottom of base
.

Stamp and color image on white circle.  Glue white
circle to red
circle.
Gently place about 1/4 tsp glitter and pinch of sequins to center.

Remove back adhesive backing on snow globe back and attach to top/center of circles, leaving bottom as shown

Remove adhesive backing on front of snow globe and attach twine to top

Attach cut out red circle to front of globe, making sure edges match around circle.

Cut out small opening on bottom of shimmer paper. If glimmer paper not used, this step is not necessary.  This way the glue will be able to adhere when adding the base of the globe.

Glue scalloped circle around the globe as shown

Glue scroll base to red base

Glue base to circle

Add bow with glue dots sticking most of it to plastic for it may not stick well to glimmer paper.

Poke hole in center/top of assembled pool party piece about 1/4" way down.

Loosely secure brad, then attach to base card.
I hope you will make a snow globe card....not just for Christmas or winter.  Could also be made into a baby card, or birthday, or any occasion.  Recipients will love it (and won't stop shaking it)!
