Bird on a Diet

For some reason I'm finding I'm liking birds. Especially in the stamping world. So many of my friends DO NOT like this bird from the Perched in a Tree stamp set because he's so puffed up ... they have even been calling him constipated. So I put him on a diet. Here's what I did.

I stamped and colored him with Stampin' Blends. For this one I used Tahitian Tide, Night of Navy and Soft Sea Foam.

Next, I cut him out (there is a die, but was in fussy cutting mode).

Starting from his beak, I cut off his puffed belly. A little trimming under his beak to get a better shape. Then overlapped the top and bottom pieces to get the size I was looking for ... and I now have a skinny bird. A little trimming by his tail also had to be done, but I really liked the way these turned out. (The seam does show, but only if you look really close).

I'm sure he feels so much better now 😀

Fancy Fold - Small Modified Z Fold

Technique Time. Here is a fun fold call Small Modified Z fold. We have done quite a few Z folds, and each one has its own unique feature.

Here is another cute version of one.

Card measurements:

Background -- 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 (scored at 4-1/4 and 2-1/8)

Left panel designer paper -- 1-3/4 x 5

Back panel basic white -- 4 x 5-1/4

Middle piece -- 3 x 6 (scored at 2 and 4)

All Panels -- 1-3/4 x 2-3/4

3D Camper


Dimensions for camper inside -- 1-1/2" x 4", scored at 1/4" on top and bottom and 1" on each side (as shown on red dotted lines). Cut marks are the black triangles. See video for instructions.

Technique Time! This cute 3D camper was CASED from another demonstrator. Unfortunately, the Sale-A-Bration Tree Lot Dies are no longer available (this was made prior to them being unavailable), however, it's a good example of how to make any flat image into a 3D holder perfect for a small post-it note holder or even candy treats.
