Happy Hour Birthday

Hi Stamping Friends.  This card is the birthday card I made for my DIL.  She loves margaritas and her favorite color is purple.  As I was wishing her "Happy Birthday" over the phone, we were talking for a while, and that's when I created this ... during our conversation.  I guess I was being inspired as we talked.  Now that's multi-tasking!

The colors are concord crush (retired) and old olive.  The stamp set is called Happy Hour.  I used crystal effects to make the top part of the glass to look more like glass (click on picture to see larger image).

Everything Eleanor 2

Hi Stamping Friends.  As promised, here is my other Everything Eleanor card.  It is very similar to the one below, but in different colors.  I had a leftover delicate doily punched out, so I decided to use it.  I was thinking of making a Christmas card, that's why I pulled the colors (crumb cake and cherry cobbler).  This is what I ended up with.  As always, it's much prettier in real life.  The insides to the flowers have glittery Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details ... just enough glitz.

MOJO Monday

Hi Stamping Friends.  WOW!  Two posts in one day.  I'm on a roll now.  This is a Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge.  I happened to have the delicate doily already punched out, as well as the lacy border around the square.  I love it when a plan comes together ... even though it really wasn't planned at all.

The colors are Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake Fan Fair Designer Paper, and Very Vanilla.  The stamp set is Everything Eleanor -- a stamp set that I've had since January (we got it at Leadership), and I've never really used it.  And today I used it on two cards (more leftover doilies).  I'll post it tomorrow.

Blue Challenge

Hi Stamping Friends.  I was feeling a bit challenged in coming up with a layout, so I decided to do a sketch challenge.  Actually I did two challenges today, I also did the SCS color challenge.  I started out with the top view card ... the colors in the color challenge are Pool Party, Island Indigo and Whisper White.  The "dessert" was to make the card about water.  As I was trying to do a new technique on the background, I had a couple of the images stamped out from trying the technique.  I love the way both turned out, but the bottom is my favorite.

The technique will be done in our technique class and club next week.  I still have a few spots left for the technique club that meets the first Wednesday of each month (July we will meet on July 5 due to the holiday). Each month we make 3 cards and learn 3 new techniques printed out that can be put into a technique scrap book that you will also get (free).  Simply spend $25 in Stampin' Up! products (each month one of you will be a hostess).  Email me if you are interested.

Take Care Blessings

Hi Stamping Friends.  Typically, I don't do "simple".  I love lots of layers, but this card really didn't need anything more.  Well maybe it does, but I couldn't think of anything ...

I combined two stamp sets -- Take Care and For the Birds.  The colors are Early Espresso, Primrose Petals, and Very Vanilla.  The bird in the birds nest and the eggs are cut out and attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Natural Composition

Hi Stamping Friends.  Have you tried the Natural Composition Specialty Paper (more like cardstock)?  It is so cool.  I didn't realize it, but it's "spongeable" and "colorable" (okay they're probably not words, but if you're a stamper, you know what I mean).

Four squares were punched using the scallop square punch.  Then two of them were sponged with Raspberry Ripple.  It's that simple!  The look is similar to emboss resist.  The other colors are crumb cake and very vanilla.  Easy Peasy!

For the Birds Birthday

Hi Stamping Friends.  This was such a fun card.  I just got this stamp set For the Birds.  It's such a bright, cheery set.  I had the piece of marina mist sitting on my counter, so I decided to emboss it using the argyle embossing folder.  It was a little big for the card, so I cut off 1/4" piece, and put it under the flower (which was cut using the Floral Frames Framelits).  The small flowers were cut using the Floral Fusion sizzlet, and the sentiment was cut using the Bitty Banners Framelits.  I just love those framelits!

Papaya Memories

Hi Stamping Friends.  Gee, this picture does not do this card justice ... it's so much richer looking in real life.  It's a CASE from Mary Brown.  The colors are Summer Starfruit, Black and Very Vanilla.  The right border is embossed using the Delicate Designs Embossing Folder.  The Apothecary Framelits are used the backdrop of the image.  The very vanilla is sponged with summer starfruit, gumball green and always artichoke.  The black image is from the Papaya Collage stamp set.  The sentiment if from the loving thoughts set.

Similar to Black Magic

Hi Stamping Friends.  Today's card is a CASE from another demonstrator (don't know the name ... sorry). The technique for the butterflies is very similar to Black Magic. The image is first stamped twice on black with white craft ink using the Bordering on Romance stamp set, then embossed with white embossing powder. The flowers are colored in with Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wonder Crayons -- first pink pirouette, then rose red and pumpkin pie (blended) and wild wasabi. Then the card stock is run through the big shot using the Butterfly Bigz die.  There should be some of the image left over, and the butterfly is punched out with the new butterfly punch.

Doesn't the lace on the bottom look like real lace?  It's actually embossed using the Viola's Lace Builder wheel.  I actually had girls from the club touch it to make sure.  The square is cut out using the scallop squares duo bigz die embossed with the new fancy fan folder.

Sketch Challenge

Hi Stamping Friends.  I have really been on a roll.  I think I created about 10 cards in the last few days.  I guess I bought too many toys (na, that's not it) ... had to try them all.   It's pretty funny how some cards come together.  The big flower from Decorate a Daisy was a result of just showing someone how cool the new inks are, then I stamped a second time to clean it off.  The center of the flower happened the same way.  So I decided to punch them out, and had this flower sitting there all by it's lonesome.

As I was relaxing and looking through some of my favorites, I decided to check out Stamping 411.  They have some nice sketch challenges there.  Below is the most recent sketch.

The colors are Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, and  Comfort Cafe Designer Paper.

Green Silhouettes

Hi Stamping Friends.  I just love the way this card turned out.  I stamped the same Serene Silhouettes image several times in several colors -- first summer starfruit, certainly celery, gumball green and finally always artichoke.  After stamping each color I sporatically sponged the entire card piece with the color of the image.  In real life it almost glows ... so much prettier.  I love this stamp set ... you'll be seeing much more of this set in the future.

We will be doing this technique in our technique class on July 5th.  We still need just a few more people for that class.  Let me know if you are interested.

Faux Woodgrain Technique

Hi Stamping Friends.   Today's card is one we made in our technique class.  The technique was faux wood.  To do the technique -- on soft suede, stamp the woodgrain background stamp (optional).  Score every 1/2".  Using the direct-to-paper method, slide chocolate chip or early espresso across the paper going in the direction of the score marks.  That's it!  When the woodgrain background stamp is used, it seems to really give it a more true wood look.  The other colors are Raspberry Ripple and Very vanilla.  The ribbon is the gumball green 3/8" stitched satin ribbon.  The birds are punch in Primrose Petals sponged with basic gray.  The sentiment is from curly cute.

Tissue Box Inspiration

Hi Stamping Friends.  Inspiration comes from the oddest places.  Today's inspiration comes from a tissue box.   The color combination was certainly something I would have never come up with on my own, but I think they look pretty slick.  The colors are summer starfruit (who would have thought), rich razzleberry, baja breeze, and early espresso. The stamp set I used is Printed Petals.

Where do you get your inspiration?   I'd love to hear from you!

Stamp sets - Field Flowers, En Francois and Just Because (sentiment), Colors -- Black, Raspberry Ripple, Very Vanilla.
Hi Stamping Friends.  Do you ever try for one thing and end up with something totally unexpected?  That's what happened with these cards.  My original intent was to make a card using the brick technique.  Every image I stamped I didn't like.  Surprisingly, after I went back to the original images I stamped, I decided to use them anyway, and I almost like those cards better than my intended card.

If you would like to join my technique class/club, we meet the first Wednesday of each month.  Cost is $25 minimum Stampin' Up! purchase or $15 (no purchase).  Club members receive a 6 x 6 photo album to place their techniques inside. We make 3 technique samples and 3 cards using those techniques.  If you are in the Milwaukee/Metro area and would like to attend or join as a club member (monthly commitment each month there is new hostess), please email me for further details.

Or, if you are interested in joining a virtual technique club, email if you are interested.
