Sail Away

Hi Stamping Friends.  It's a sunny day and the beginning of summer which makes me thinks of a day at the lake.  Today's card features the single stamp set called Sail Away, found in the summer mini catalog.  The colors are Not Quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler (embossed using the square lattice embossing folder), Very Vanilla, and Crumb Cake.  The sun is sponged in Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie, masked using the 1-3/4" circle.  Then the image is stamped over the top.  The sails are gently sketched over using the white gel pen, and the water is colored using Marina Mist Watercolor Wonder Crayon and the Aqua Painter.  I think I like the look of the card on the left better with the jumbo brads and the cherry/white baker's twine.  The sentiments are from Teeny Tiny Wishes, punched out using the word window and framed with the modern label punch in not quite navy.

Just a reminder, today is the last day for the National Scrapbooking Month promotion.

Birthday Butterfly

Hi Stamping Friends.  Melon mambo, black, and very vanilla are the colors for this simple card.  The En Francois background stamp is the perfect backdrop for the Strength and Hope butterfly that is "rock n' rolled" in rich razzleberry and melon mambo.  The sentiment is Cute and Curly.

On the Green

Hi Stamping Friends.  Golf anyone?  This very simple card is a great retirement card, or birthday, or even Father's day.  The card base is garden green, followed by black that is embossed using the square lattice embossing folder.  Then I punched a 2-1/2" circle out of the black and adhered it to the green using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The On the Green single stamp is stamped on whisper white in garden green ink then punched using a 2-1/4" punch (not SU) and adhered flat inside the black circle.  The three golf balls are made using whisper white card stock, embossed with the polka dot embossing folder and punched with 3/4" circle.  The are added to the card (bumps down) using dimensionals.  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set, punched using the word window and the green is punched using the modern label punch.

Baby Blanket

Hi Stamping Friends.  Today's card was rather emotionally difficult to make.  As stated in previous posts, I have been making cards as people donate meals for Feed My Starving Children (a community  event being held at our church in September).  Gift-givers can choose whatever occasion they would like.  This particular person wanted to donate meals in memory of their 6 month old grandson, who passed away six months ago.  As we talked (and cried) together, I asked her some special things about her grandson.  She said he loved his blue blanket with blue satin and his blue teddy bear.  So this is the card I came up with.  The blanket is bashful blue card stock embossed using the square lattice embossing folder.  I then adhered the blue satin ribbon all the way around.  To get the blanket to drape over the card, I sprayed it with rubbing alcohol to make it pliable to shape like the blanket.  Then I used dimensionals to adhere to the card.  The blue bear is made using the Lil' Paws embosslit and sponged.  The little tag says, "thinking of you". The dresser itself is done using early espresso.

I delivered the card, and the grandma loved it.  She said the blanket looked exactly like his blanket, and the bear was perfect.  This part got to me ... she said the dresser was same "design" as his dresser (I had no idea on color or design).  So, we cried together once again.

We never really know how our cards will touch others.  This is a great example of that for sure.

Birthday Ties

Hi Stamping Friends.  What do you give the guy who has everything ... another tie, of course.  This card could be used for birthday or Father's Day.  The card is cherry cobbler, basic grey, whisper white, and nautical expedition designer paper.  The stamp set is Best Dad Ever.  Rather than using markers to color the ties, I used the basic grey spot and cherry cobbler spot inks.  Simple and sweet for any guy.

Birthday Shirt

Hi Stamping Friends.  Another shirt.  These are so fun to make.  For instructions to make the shirt, check out my video from last year (only discard the brads at the end).   The card is soft suede, then baja breeze (embossed using the square lattice embossing folder).  The shirt and tie use the Elegant Soiree Designer Paper.  The tie template is from one of the ties in the Best Dad Ever stamp set.  The three circles are punched in soft suede using the Itty Bitty Shapes set.  To add glitz (even on a guys card) there is a rhinestone as the tie tac.

Kitty Thinking of You

Hi Stamping Friends.  Sorry it's been a while since I've posted.  Life tends to get in the way of things.  At least you had lots to look at with all the swaps.

Today's card features a new stamp in the summer mini called Touch of Kindness.  The inside of the card shows the water fountain.  This little kitty just makes you smile, doesn't it?!  He is colored in with peach parfait and sahara sand markers.  The card itself is peach parfait, wild wasabi, whisper white, and Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper.  The ribbon is the peach parfait 1/2" polyester ribbon.

Hi Stamping Friends.  Recently I participated in a WOW swap with fellow demonstrators.  We had specific rules as to how many layers, how much bling, etc. that was supposed to be on the card.  We also had to just use items from the Summer Mini Catalog.  Well, it was a WOW swap.  The first card is one of the cards that I contributed.  The others list the creator of their cards.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.  I will submit the second bunch tomorrow.

This is my contribution.  It features the flowers from the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch.  The Beyond the Garden designer paper is also showcased.  The butterfly is embossed with the Melon Mambo embossing powder, stamped using the Flower Fest stamp set.  The sentiment is not in the mini, but it is a very cool set called Word Play in the Idea Book and Catalog.  A few rhinestones bling it up a bit.  The colors of the card are Melon Mambo, Peach Parfait, Wild Wasabi, and Whisper White.

Card Making Badge

Hi Stamping Friends.  Last week we had a special gathering of a few Girl Scout Daisies and their moms to earn the Card Making Badge.  These are the cards we made.  We also made a little flower on a stick, I don't have a picture of.  The girls did real well (so did the moms).

The ballerina card is so cute (no not my design--it's a CASE).  The skirt is made using 2-1/2" x 11" vellum strips, covered with pretty in pink ink (either a brayer or ink pad direct to paper).  Once dry, punch out five of petals from the Build A Blossom punch (largest and smallest sizes) which are attached with the mini glue dots on the top.  The bodice portion is punched using the Tab punch, and scooped out on the top to make the neckline.  The stamp set for the dress is Itty Bitty Bits in melon mambo, certainly celery and pretty in pink.  The 1/8" old olive ribbon works well for a belt, and the pompoms are a great addition (although they are no longer available).  Rhinestones create a necklace and add a little bling to the skirt.

The shirt card is made using origami technique in this video.  The tie is stamped from the Best Dad Ever stamp set and cut out.

Do you have a local Girl Scout or Daisy group that is looking to earn their card making card, feel free to email me.
