Upsy Daisy

Hello everyone.  We had a great time at our card ministry class last night.  Here is one of the cards we made using the emboss resist method.  Stamp the Upsy Daisy in versamark, then emboss with clear embossing powder.  Then sponge on cherry cobbler, cajun craze, and tangerine tango over the clear image.  The background was embossed on crumb cake with the vintage wallpaper embossing folder, and rubbed with the tea stain ink spot from the distressing kit.  The ribbon is the retired dusty durango polka dot ribbon (using the non-polka-dot side), which is still available on the clearance rack.  It's actually a pretty good match to the cajun craze.  The sentiment is from the Sincere Salutations set.

Bird Inspiration

Time spent with friends is so much fun!  Today my scrapbook class was canceled, so rather than mope around, I invited a friend to come over to "play".  My friend loves contemporary cards, so that's what we worked on.  She brought over a piece of inspiration paper (on the left), and this is what we came up with.  What do you think?  Which one do you like better?

The background is in chocolate chip, with tempting turquoise embossed using the square lattice folder.  The bird punch worked perfectly for the real red birds and chocolate chip branches.  The little white circles are made using the circle in the itty bitty punch set.

The second card uses the Season of Friendship stamp (I envisioned it as I was first posting this).  The red/white polka dot ribbon makes it a little less contemporary, but I like it anyway.  Did you know you can purchase the ribbon on clearance?  Check it out.  AND you can get FREE shipping if you email me your order before end of day November 29th.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  This card is to commemorate all the "deer widows".  It's the same camouflage technique that I've shown before.  Added is a tangerine tango layer and ribbon, to mimic the blaze orange.  The stamp set is Nature Silhouette.

Don't forget about the FREE shipping offer.  See below.

Chic Boutique

This was another card made at stamp class the other night.  It's a little out of my comfort zone for style, but I do like the way it turned out.

The colors are marina mist, black, newsprint designer paper, elegant soiree designer paper, and very vanilla.  Very simple card using layers.  The brights glimmer brads add just a touch a sparkle.  The stamp set is Chic Boutique.

Happy Birthday to ME

Today is my birthday, so I had to show you the surprise I got from some of my BEST friends.  Last night before class, the ladies surprised me with a cake (with butterflies on it) and some beautiful cards.  We have a running joke that everyone should place their hand under their chin to hide the "extra" chins.  After laughing and eating cake, we did make some cards.  Here is one of them.

This cute card is a CASE (sorry can't remember where).  The owl punch was used to make the penguin (I prefer penguins to owls, anyway) ... the background is rose red and pumpkin pie, with Sweet and Sour Designer paper.  The balloons are punched using the medium oval punch found in the Holiday Mini.  What fun!

So ... for my birthday, I thought I would share a gift for all of you.  Anyone who places an order with me TODAY only, will receive FREE shipping.  In order to receive this special offer, you must email me or call me to place your order.

French Foliage Holiday Wreath

The wreath is simply made using a leaf from the French Foliage stamp set, stamped in a circle by stamping three times with one inking.  The colors are chocolate chip, cajun craze and very vanilla.  The sentiment is from the Day of Gratitude set, punched from the Decorative label set.  I also did a Christmas wreath using the same technique (Both cards are a CASE from Dawn Olchefske).

The colors for this card are old olive, cherry cobbler and very vanilla.

Christmas Tissue Holder

I had to make a couple of items for a recent craft fair, and this cute little set is one of them.  The tissue holder actually folds up so it could fit in an envelope, along with the 3 x 3 note card.  You can find the dimensions on a previous post.  The background is Baja Breeze with Candy Cane Christmas designer paper.  The big snowflake is from the Snowflake Bigz Die, and the small snowflakes are from the Northern Frost Decorative Strip die found in the Holiday Mini.  The snowman is from A Cute Christmas stamp set, also found in the mini.

Stamp Set:  A Cute Christmas
Ink:   Black Stazon, Markers

Patchwork Candy Cane Christmas

This non-traditional color patchwork Christmas card was simple to make, and looks even prettier in real life.  One and 1/4 inch squares are glued onto a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 piece of any color card stock.  Then it is run through the Big Shot using the Top Note die.

The red sparkle on the Candy Cane Christmas Specialty paper adds just enough pizazz.  A little red glimmer brad matches the polka dot paper perfectly.  The baja breeze base of the card embossed with the square lattice embossing folder makes it look like the patchwork is on fabric.  The sentiment is from the Contempo Christmas stamp set.

Stamp Set:  Contempo Christmas
Ink:  Black
Paper Baja Breeze, Candy Cane Christmas Specialty paper, Whisper White
Extras:  Top Note Die, 1/4" Red Grosgrain Ribbon, Glimmer Brads Bright, Corner Round Punch

Losing My Marbles

Well, my marbles aren't actually lost ... because I used them to create the design on the background.  Marbles, a few drops of Versamark reinker placed in a stamp box, and silver or gold embossing powder.  Voila!  Cool design.

The top design uses the same diagonal cut piece, only turned vertical.  Night of navy, brushed silver and whisper white are one set of colors, and cherry cobbler, brushed gold and very vanilla make up the other.

The stamp sets are Rejoicing in Christmas and Peaceful Season Hostess Level 2 (just another reason to have a workshop).

To place your Stampin' Up! order click here.

Stamp Sets:  Rejoicing in Christmas, Peaceful Season Hostess Level 2, Simple Snowflake
Ink:  Versamark reinker and stamp pad, Night of navy or cherry cobbler
Card stock:  Cherry Cobber or Night of Navy, Brushed Gold or Silver, Very Vanilla or Whisper White
Extras:  Gold or silver brad, Snowflake punch, word window and modern label punch

Punch Potpourri Praying

Here is another card for the card ministry session we had the other night.  It's nice and feminine.  The card base is pear pizzazz, with pink pirouette, and whisper white.  The pink is stamped with pink pirouette ink using the French Filigree background stamp, then punched on one side with the eyelet border punch.  Another layer of whisper white is punched with the eyelet border punch.  The heart is from the Hostess Level 1 Punch Potpourri set, embellished with three small pearls.  The striped ribbon came from the clearance rack, and the sentiment is non Stampin' Up!

This is a great time to have a Stampin' Up! workshop.  You can get your Christmas wish list filled out and hand it to your loved one who doesn't know what to get you!!!

If you are in the Milwaukee/Metro area and would like to gather a few of your friends together for your own workshop, please contact me.  I'd love to show you some fun techniques and projects.

French Foliage Thanksgiving

We made this card in one of our card ministry classes.  It is so rewarding to be able to touch the lives of others through card making.

This simple card is on chocolate chip card stock, with a layer of cajun craze that is embossed with the square lattice impressions folder, with a side bar from the Autumn Spice designer paper, and stamped on very vanilla using the stamp set called French Foliage in old olive, more mustard, and cajun craze. The sentiment is from Day of Gratitude, stamped in chocolate chip.

If you would like to start a card ministry for your church, I'd love to design your cards and provide all that you need to get one going (cost only $10 or $15 depending on number of cards you make).  Feel free to contact me.

Stamp Sets:  French Foliage, Day of Gratitude
Ink:  Old Olive, More Mustard, Cajun Craze
Paper:  Chocolate Chip, Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Autumn Spice Designer Specialty Paper
Extras:  Vintage Brads, Square Lattice Impressions Folder

Extreme Guitar Birthday

This was way out of my comfort zone, but I really like the way it turned out.  This is also using the camouflage technique, only using crumb cake on very vanilla, then bashful blue, then marina mist, and finally perfect plum.  The extreme guitar stamp is a single stamp that will work well for any teen or tween.  It's stamped in elegant eggplant craft ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder and cut out.  The image is placed on two wide ovals in marina mist and elegant eggplant.  The sentiment is from the Hostess Level 1 set called afterthoughts.  The base card is elegant eggplant, and the next layer is marina mist. The buttons came from the clearance rack buttons (yes there are still just a few items available).

Ink:  Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant Craft Ink (spots), clear embossing powder
