Day of Gratitude Emboss Resist

Today's card features the technique called emboss resist.  First, the En Francois Background was stamped on 3-3/4 x 3-3/4 very vanilla.  Next, the large medallion from the Day of Gratitude was stamped with Versamark, then embossed with clear embossing powder.  The final step for this technique is using a sponge or dauber over the entire image in old olive, always artichoke and cajun craze.  Afterward, rub the embossed image with a paper towel, and the medallion shows through quite brightly.

Vellum Technique

Today's featured card is using a direct ink pad to vellum technique.  Not sure what the actual technique would be called, but it looks cool anyway.  I did this technique exactly a year ago and called it Ink Smooshing to Vellum.

Here is how to do the technique. By spreading the ink directly from the pad to vellum in different directions, the look is created. These two cards were done with peach parfait, tangerine tango and believe it or not, cherry cobbler.  Both were done exactly the same, but look entirely different by adding the background color.  The first (which turns the cherry cobbler into rich razzleberry), the vellum is backed on peach parfait, then mounted onto the rich razzleberry.  The second is mounted directly onto the cajun craze card.

Email me if you are interested in doing this and/or other techniques in a class.  I would love to schedule one for you and your friends.

Camouflage Technique

When my son saw this card, he really liked it (usually he could care less).  So, I guess it's a good "guy" card.

This technique is called camouflage, that was taught at a recent Stampin' Up! regional conference.

Very Vanilla CS 3-3/4 x 5
Sahara Sand Ink Pad
Old Olive Ink Ink Pad
Always Artichoke Ink Pad
Soft Suede Ink Pad

Rubbing Alcohol in spritz bottle
Bone folder
Jumbo Eyelets and Crop-A-Dile
Always Artichoke card stock (8-1/2 x 5-1/2)
Crumb Cake card stock (5-1/4 x 4)

Step 1:    Using ink pad, cover Very Vanilla card stock completely with Sahara Sand
Step 2:    Scrunch card stock between hands in both directions
Step 3:    Open card stock
Step 4:    Ink up paper with Old Olive ink pad. Leave some areas uncovered
Step 5:    Spritz with alcohol and scrunch lightly, open carefully
Step 6:    Ink over Always Artichoke ink pad
Step 7:    Ink over with Soft Suede ink pad
Step 8:    Spritz again lightly with rubbing alcohol
Step 9:    Turn card stock face done and run Bone Folder over the back of card stock
Step 10:   Allow to dry
Step 11:   If you feel you need more color, add what you need using either a sponge or ink pad.
Spritz again and allow to dry

Baby Tees

Today's card is a simple baby card that we made for the card ministry program, which can be used for boy or girl.  The base card is in pear pizzazz, that was run through the Big Shot using the polka dot embossing folder.  The Baby Tees wheel was used for the onesie, which was rolled onto the designer paper in black ink, then cut out.  A little strip of matching designer paper tied the colors  together, and it was finished off with a simple button and tag from the Tiny Tags stamp set.  The 2-3/8" scallop punch in pink pirouette, along with the 1-3/4" circle in pear pizzazz are a great backdrop for the onsie.

If you are in the Milwaukee/metro area and your church or organization would like to get a card ministry started, please feel free to email me.

Owl Love-Birds

Doesn't this card make you smile.  My "critic" husband said it's one of his favorites.  One of my club members requested an anniversary/wedding card.  This one fits the bill.  These cute soft suede love-bird owls are punched using the owl punch.  The eyes are whisper white and black with a touch of glint using the white gel pen.  The little shirts are baja breeze and elegant soiree designer paper, accented with a row of pearls.  The small cherry cobbler hearts are from the same owl punch, and the larger heart is from the small heart punch. The wild wasabi branches are punched from the bird punch.  The crumb cake woodgrain background stamp on very vanilla is the perfect backdrop.  The curly cute set finishes off with the sentiment.

Girl Scouts Scallop Square Tote

A local Girl Scout Troop did a wonderful job making these square scallop totes.  Within two hours, most girls were able to finish their project (those that didn't finish will be having a little outing with their leader).  With a few moms, 5 sewing machines and 13 girls, we had a great time!  The kits were pre-cut running the fabric through the Big Shot using the Square Scallop die.  We were able to cut up to eight squares at a time.  Each girl was provided with a color chart to arrange their squares accordingly.  They did all the sewing themselves.  Great job girls!

To host your Milwaukee/Metro event, whether it is a card making or scrapbooking workshop, or something similar to the girls outing, feel free to email me.
