Faux Iris July Fourth

The stamp, July Fourth, works well for any patriotic theme.  I did a faux iris fold inside the star using the word window punch.  I'll illustrate the steps on how to do it within the next few days.

Have a good holiday weekend.

Nursery Necessities

I keep "finding" all these neglected sets!  Nursery Necessities and Fox & Friends (from the previous mini) worked really well for these baby cards that will be used for one of the card ministry groups that I teach.

The colors are -- for the girl -- pretty in pink, tea party designer paper, and pink pirouette (upcoming new color).  For the boy -- bashful blue, bashful blue designer paper, and certainly celery.  Each are embossed with the polka dots impressions folder, and the whisper white is punched with the scallop or scallop trim border punches.

If you are interested in starting a card ministry for your church in the Milwaukee/Metro area, I would love to hear from you.  Simply email me or call me at 262-783-5718 for more information.

Upsy Daisy Birthday

These neglected sets were just wanting to come out and play ... Upsy Daisy, Pocket Silhouettes, and Sanded Background.  They are paired up with the new Itty Bitty Bits stamp set, punched out using the Itty Bitty Shapes.

The ruby red and old olive cardstock go well together, without looking like Christmas colors.  It's a little hard to tell on the picture, but the bottom of the green plants are smeared using the aqua painter to give it a more grassy look.  The flowers are inked using markers -- really rust, dusty durango, and ruby red.

And then there's the butterfly ... looks pretty doesn't it?  Yep, it's covering a boo-boo.  You've gotta love butterflies!

Remember, ruby red is one of the colors that are retiring, so place your order today.  Starting June 1st, it's first come, first serve, with no guarantees that the cardstock will be in available.

Bride and Groom Hearts

Once of my class participants requested a wedding card, and this is what I came up with.  This CASE was fun to recreate (this design idea has been going around the stamping circuit for a while now, so I'm not sure who to acknowledge or credit).

The Bridal and Groom Specialty papers are perfect for this design. The scallop heart of hearts embosslit (carryover item from previous mini catalog) creates a great outline for the bride's heart.  The elegant eggplant bow tie actually matches the lovely lilac cardstock.

I haven't done a sketch challenge in a while, and I was noticing my cards were all starting to look the same, so I gave it a shot.

The brocade blue and Bella Bleu papers will be retiring soon, so it was a good time to use them up.  They worked nicely with the sketch.

The stamp is from Pedaling Past found in the summer mini catalog.  The card be used for all kinds of occasions -- wedding, graduation, bon voyage.  The gears were punched using the extra large cogs double punch.

Sweet Scoops

This was a quick card that we made at a class last night.  It is actually a CASE from Gretchen Barron, a fellow SU demonstrator. Also the stamp set, called Sweet Scoops, was a gift from Stampin' Up! that I received after our Milwaukee Regional Event for having qualifying sales.  It's great being a demonstrator.  There are so many benefits and rewards, plus the extra money and discounts are great!  Why don't you consider becoming a demonstrator.  I will guide you along whatever journey you would like to take (hobbyist or business).  Click here for more information, and once you decide to join, simply sign up and use the password "zgrandma" and you'll be part of my team!  If you have any questions, email me or give me a call at 262-783-5718.  I'd love to share what I do!

Enjoy Life

Did you ever look through your stamp sets and realize that you haven't used one of the sets in a while.  Enjoy Every Moment is one of those sets.  The coconut drink from the Tropical Party set fit perfectly over the letter "O".  Of course, I HAD to use the square lattice impressions folder for the background.  I actually made a card yesterday that didn't have it (oh no!).  The cute little flowers across the top of the sentiment are punched using one of the punches from the Itty Bitty Shapes set (found in the summer mini).  The centers of the flowers are dotted with the white gel pen and just secured with a mini glue dot (I'm lazy with using glue -- dots are so much easier).  The sides of the main image are accented with a bit of tempting turquoise 1/4" grosgrain ribbon.

The colors are Melon Mambo, So Saffron, Whisper White, and Island Oasis designer paper.

Pedaling Past

This was such a fun card to make.  I love the tricycle from the Pedaling Past stamp set in the Summer Mini Catalog.  In making cards over the weekend, I realized I used the square lattice impressions folder on ALL my cards.  The look is pretty impressive.

The paper on this card are night of navy, kraft, pumpkin pie, and travel journal designer paper.  The little cogs are from the new punch called extra-large cogs double.  It not only punches out the cogs, but it punches small circles, too.

To order your Stampin' Up! supplies click here.  Or if you would like to host your own workshop and you are in the Milwaukee/Metro area, email me.

Pansy Sympathy

A friend's mom passed away, so here is the sympathy card that I made for her.  It's a pretty simple card using the square lattice impressions folder for the background, and the butterfly punched pansies as the main focal point.  The colors are melon mambo and basic black.  The sentiment is from the teeny tiny wishes stamp set.

Daubered Tropical Party

This palm tree, from the Tropical Party stamp set, was the perfect stamp to create a scene.  The tree was stamped then masked with a post-it note.  The sun is colored with a dauber in saffron, with a 3/4" hole punch.  The sky is daubered (is that a word?) with bashful blue, baha breeze (a former in-color returning in July), and not quite navy.  The sand is sahara sand.  The grass in the foreground is made using the palm branch from the Tropical Party set.

The Island Oasis designer paper provides interest to the look on the side, with textured added on a very vanilla piece of card stock embossed with the square lattice impressions folder, punched down the side with the spiral punch.  The main card is old olive, and the mat for the palm tree is in not quite navy.

The sentiment is from my favorite, Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Island Oasis Origami Shirt

The shirt on this card was so fun, I thought I'd make a video.  This card could be any occasion, not just for Father's Day.  The shirt was made out of a 4" x 6" piece of Island Oasis Designer Paper, which can be found in the Summer Mini Catalog.  The palm trees are from the set Tropical Party, colored with old olive and chocolate chip markers, and punch with the 1-3/4" circle punch.  The Tempting Turquoise circle is cut from the Circles #2 Bigz Die.  The old olive texture for the background is made by using the Square Lattice Impressions folder.

Razzle Dazzle Thanks

This card was also made in my Technique Tuesday class.  The technique is done by inking up the rubber using a stamp pad and a dauber.  It has a similar effect as rock 'n roll, but the ink is more precisely placed.

The colors are Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry (retiring), and Melon Mambo.  The designer paper is Razzleberry Lemonade.  The stamp set is Razzle Dazzle and the sentiment is from Watercolor Trio.  The main image is accented with three little pieces of Rich Razzleberry ribbon.

Watercolor Marbles

Today, I held a Technique Tuesday class.  Each participant "practiced" the technique on a smaller piece of card stock and received directions on how to do the technique.  Two techniques were put on a 6 x 6 card that will go into a little book for future use.  Then we made the card.

The technique is called Rolling Marbles.  The colors used for this card are tempting turquoise, certainly celery, and pacific point (coming up in the new catalog).  The stamp set is Watercolor Trio which can be found in the Summer Mini Catalog.  My "butterfly" friends, yes, this butterfly fits nicely, but it also covers a smudge.

I will be scheduling more Technique Tuesday classes. Stay tuned for more details.  If you are interested in receiving more information, please feel free to contact me.

Kind and Caring Thoughts

It was a wonderful Mother's Day for me.  One of my son's and family took me out for breakfast and then we went to the Botannical Gardens.  The spring flowers were in bloom and were just beautiful.

This cool mug was a souvenir, and was my inspiration for this card. The cardstock is Night of Navy, Old Olive (embossed with Square Lattice impressions folder), Summer Sun (retiring soon) and Whisper White.

The stamp set is from the Hostess Level 3 set called Kind and Caring Thoughts.  The grass is from the set called Inspired by Nature.

Just a quick note ... with all of the colors that are retiring soon, there has been an extraordinary amount of people ordering their favorites.  If you plan to order retiring card stock, please know that if the regular card stock isn't available you will receive textured card stock (no extra charge).  Re-inkers & ink pads will available in May ... but may go into backorder status.  In June all the supplies are available only while supplies last.   My advice is if at all possible don't delay..... if it's something you can't live without, now would be the time to place your order.

To place your supply order click here or email me.

Have a great day!

This was another card that we made at a Stamp-A-Stack.  The colors were inspired by the Thoroughly Modern designer paper.  The colors are soft suede, bermuda bay, melon mambo, and whisper white.  Bermuda bay is one of the upcoming retiring colors.

The stamp set is from the Watercolor Trio set in the Summer Mini.  Also found in the mini are the little flowers on the bottom are punched using the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack, which includes the flower shape, a 3/8" circle and a 4-petal flower shape.

All a Flutter

We made this card at a recent Stamp-A-Stack.  The idea came from another Stampin' Up! Demo, but I don't remember who it was (sorry).  The butterfly is from the stamp set called All a Flutter.  It is stamped on Lovely Lilac, then colored in with a few markers and glittered with Dazzling Diamonds.  The bottom of the card is from Very Vintage Wheel.  The cardstock is lovely lilac (retiring), old olive, sahara sand, and very vanilla.

To join us for any of the upcoming Stamp-A-Stack classes or other classes, feel free to email me to sign up.  The schedule is here.

Motorcycle Father's Day

Do you know any cycle riders?  They would love the motorcycle stamp that can be found in the new summer mini.  It is sold as an individual stamp on the last page of the mini.

For this card, I used basic black, real red, brushed silver, and watercolor paper.  The red was run through the Big Shot using the square lattice impressions folder.  The image was stamped with Black Stazon onto the Watercolor paper, then colored with markers and blended with the aqua painter.

If you have not received your copy of the summer mini catalog, please feel free to email me to get your copy.

Stamp Set:  Motorcycle
Ink:  Black Stazon, markers -- going gray, real red, black
Cardstock:  Basic black, real red, brushed silver, watercolor paper
Extras:  Silver brads, Square Lattice Impressions folder

Watercolor Bouquet

This layout I've used in several different color schemes, but they really take on totally different looks, depending on the stamp set and colors.

The card on the left features discontinuing colors ballet blue and apricot appeal, and brocade blue ribbon.  However, the new items on the card are the square lattice impressions folder and new stamp set called Bouquet Bunch.

The card on the right features not quite navy and kraft.  The ribbon, from the ribbon originals called Elements, was my inspiration for the colors scheme.  The stamp set is from the new set called Watercolor Trio.  I'm sure you'll be seeing lots more of that set on my cards.  It's a MUST HAVE!

I hope you're inspired by these cards.  If you are, feel free to send me a picture, and I'll gladly post it on my blog.

To order your supplies, click here or email me.

Stamp Sets:  Bouquet Bunch, Watercolor Trio
Ink:  (Blue card) Black Stazon, markers -- apricot appeal, bashful blue, ballet blue, ruby red, creamy caramel.  (Kraft card) Not quite navy, soft suede

Extras:  Crimper, Square Lattice impressions folder, 5/8" brocade blue grosgrain ribbon or Elements Ribbon Originals, Wide oval punch, large oval punch, scallop oval punch

Tropical Party

This was such a fun card to make.  The ladies had fun with it as well at stamp camp.  Instead of using the In a Word stamp set for the sentiment, they used the sentiment "and many more" from Party Hearty set.  What a riot!

The base of the card uses tempting turquoise, accented with pumpkin pie that is run through the new square lattice impressions folder.  I love the look, almost like burlap.  The umbrellas are from the new designer series paper called Island Oasis.  And, of course, the main stamp is from the Tropical Party set, then glittered with Dazzling Diamonds.  In making the sample, I accidentally put the image into embossing powder instead of dazzling diamonds.  Oops ... but I embossed it anyway, and it really turned out pretty cool.  It gave it a different look.  Give it a try, and see which look you like better.

To order your supplies, click here.

Stamp Sets:  Tropical Party, In a Word (or can be substituted with Party Hearty)
Ink:  Chocolate Chip, melon mambo marker
Paper:  Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie, Island Oasis Designer Paper, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
